Now that spring is here, fresh bouquets are the perfect finishing touch to any space. I always like to make bouquets last as long as I possibly can - flowers make any girl happy, right?!
Here are a few tips to help stretch the life of a bouquet.
Day 1: Only buy flowers at the market if you plan on rushing home right after. Be sure to use a clean vase, any lurking mold will only speed up the decaying process. Cut stems at an angle, remove any leaves below the water line, and have your vase ready with fresh clean water. Remember to change the water daily, & trim the stems every few days. Finally, keep out of direct heat & sunlight.
Day 3: Remove any dried leaves, and throw out any withered blossoms. Transfer bouquet to a new smaller vase appropriate for a smaller arrangement.
Day 5: As more flowers continue to die, gather the remaining healthy blossoms and transfer to an even small vase, such as a tiny round vase.
Day 7: For that sweet little last blossom, place in beautiful tea cup or small bowl & place on a nightstand or by the powder bathroom sink.
