Sunday was such a beautiful day here in Atlanta. I was invited to Afternoon in the Country benefiting the Les Dames d"Escoffier International...
translation: women of achievement in the culinary...
translation: women chefs.....
translation:....women who can
throw down in the kitchen! Which I would NOT be one of.
It was held at
Serenbe, which is a darn cool place if you have not been there. It is located south of the airport, and although I thought it was pretty and all, there was no mall like Lenox near by...just sayin. Country. One day. No problem.
OK...so there were 3 huge tents lined up with the BEST of the BEST restaurants in Atlanta and surrounding areas. I mean 4 star gourmet restaurants. All cooking. For me. I was so hungry when we got there at 1:00 I was running to the food like a fat kid looking for cookies. Let me just show you a few pictures of what I am talking about.
OK...this is not the food but what I saw when we arrived. So pretty.
Yep. This was from Craft in Atlanta. Now I can say I have eaten at Craft right?
I can't remember where this was from....I was taking pictures of the food and then the restaurant name but I only had 2 hands and the food was more important!
Grits! I wanted to crawl inside. I remember that was from Rosebud which is in Midtown. Yummy!
Rathburn Steak. OMG. Spank me.
They had to pull me away from this little gem. Restaurant Eugene. One of my favorites in Atlanta.
OK...by now [there were about 5 booths in between these] I am starting to get full. My friend Jan kept saying just taste it Sherry, don't eat the whole plate. WHAT? WHY NOT? Cause there are about 40 more booths and it is all good shit!
Did I mention that there was wine, and other things to drink???? Here is Jan trying to make THAT decision :) Me, I was the DD driver for my crew. Fortunately I would much rather eat than drink.
There was a cake raffle. I really wanted to win and we had 20 tickets. 20. We didn't. I wanted to SO badly. I wanted to hear them call my number so I could scream and yell and act like they just told me I won the lottery jackpot. I love doing that. More pictures of the cakes...
Looks like a pumpkin...not a cake.
Are you freakin kidding me???? Somebody made this!
Is this what Cake Boss has done to people?
These cake people were clearly over-achievers!
OK..this looked like a 4th grade science project to me. If it had of been mine and I got there and saw the others, I would have turned around and put that sucker in my car.
Something pretty and.....
And...something ugly! No kidding...his snout was almost as big as my butt...and that is big my friend.
My crew. Side-note: I was just holding that wine for somebody while the were in the restroom. Really.
It was so much fun. I didn't get to eat as much as I wanted because I did not pace myself. In fact I got so full I couldn't eat the deserts. And I LOVE sweets.
Leaving today for Rosemary Beach. My stepson is getting married on Sat. For some reason I volunteered to do the flowers. Sometimes I think I have Tourettes and just blurt things out. It really makes life harder than it needs to be.
