For me, as I am sure for many of you out there that like to decorate, my favorite room in my house changes constantly. For a while, after we moved into our new home here in Williamsburg last summer, it was a toss-up between Lillian's nursery and our guest bedroom. Then, as the path of destruction that is my daughter, grew, Lillie's nursery dropped off the list. I still love it, but not as much as when she was tiny. I am looking forward to turning it into a bit more of a "big girl" room in a while, when hopefully another little one comes into our lives.
The guest bedroom had dropped off the list because I couldn't find the right pillows to go in front of my shams. I had hoped to make some but just haven't had the time. So, lately it has been my dining room and Jon's and my bedroom that have been my favorites. However, I received a package two days ago that changed my mind! My sister, Jamie, (the one that creates all of the ring-bearer pillows and bouquets and such for Dear Lillie) sent me a beautiful package with some
GORGEOUS pillows in it!
I ADORE them!!!! I am hoping that she will make some more for us to sell, when she has time. The flowers are made from a silk dupioni in the the perfect color - Silver Moon. The wall color in that room is a beautiful gray from Benjamin Moore, called Pebble Beach. So, I thought I would share with you some updated photos of my guest bedroom. All I have left to do in here is add a collage of vintage style cream frames with black and white or sepia-toned family photos in them to the wall along side the left bed (it is completely bare now and desperately needs something). I have all of the photos printed, I just haven't been able to find the right frames yet.
P.S. This room was done on a really small budget. We painted the walls and then used four $8 rolls of this damask wallpaper. The cornices/crowns above the beds were from our guest bedroom in our home in SC. They were shelves that I got at Hobby Lobby for $12 a piece. I used a $7/yard swiss dot sheer fabric to make the draping from them. I changed my colors when we moved here from a greenish gray color (called gray cashmere) to more of a bluish gray color so I had to paint the shelves to match. I used basic white bedding - a mix of things I got from a higher end line called Pine Cone Hill for half off and some of Target's Shabby Chic Line. The beds are a source of frustration for me - while antiquing in SC, I found the most BEAUTIFUL antique beds and fell in love with them. We were able to get them for a steal and used them in our last house. During our move, however, the movers completely shattered parts of both of them! I was crushed. I used the parts that weren't damaged to make one daybed that we now have out on our porch and found these headboards at Target. They aren't my favorite, but oh well, they are fine for now. The chair was a $6 find. It was nasty and covered in a green felt.
