ONE ROOM CHALLENGE REVEAL

It's here. We have crossed the finish line of the ORC. I am sure there were times we all thought WTH did we sign up for...but then again would we have finished without that deadline?

Hard to say. If you are wondering what all the hoopla is you can start at the beginning here.

Linda is our boss...and I use that term lightly because she is really there to coach us through the 6 week challenge. Oh Linda...where is the cocktail party for us to celebrate!

I want to get together with all of these talented people and hear the down and dirty of how they really tackled a 6 week makeover with the demands of everyday life [kids, jobs, budgets and distractions].

We should start at the beginning in case you are running to get through all the reveals today.

Here is the before:

It all started with the faux limestone walls. Long story short it was on for life and had been there for close to 20 years. I am sure you are asking yourself how the heck I kept anything that long?

I decided against the expense of hiring someone to remove it...and spend the money to cover it up with wood planks. The next eyesore was the single door which actually goes into the office/laundry room.

After these both were addressed I could have put this room back together and been tickled pink.

But....we all know how that goes. One thing leads to another and it's a slippery slope after that.

Enough review let's get to the after. The last post addressed my concern over the chairs. I gave it a lot of thought and decided that if I had gone forward with my selection for the window treatment [light white linen] the chairs would indeed be too heavy.

So I sat myself down and had a client/designer discussion. The solution is going to cost.... but you love the chairs and it will still be less expensive that new ones. Don't come this far and not finish the room.

I pulled the trigger....and ordered the Schumacher Hollycock fabric to add some weight to the room. It hurt...but it was good advice:)
