Chicago was a blast! Although it was a bit cold on Friday....Saturday and Sunday were perfect.
In case you don't know my husband works for an airline. Traveling for free = standby. That is right...everybody goes before us. Now I've had some bad experiences....sitting at the airport ALL day and then having to get a room for the night.
The last few years I have bought a ticket or used miles because I can not take the stress. AND...sitting around airports makes me want to eat junk...potatoes chips, cookies...whatever they are selling...I am eating.
I decided to take a chance this time and wing it [airline talk for worry, tension, push to the limit]. We took the 7:00 AM on Friday [yes, that meant I had to get up at 4...sucked] but made it.
Sunday was a whole different game. Got there at 11:00 and finally got the last 2 seats on the 4:00 [4 flights later]. At that point I was looking up flights on Cheaptickets.com. I could buy a ticket for about $1000.00. My husband looked at me like my eyeballs just fell out of their sockets. I looked right back at him just as hard and said..."I want to go home"....lucky for him we got on.
We stayed in Deerfield, which was very close to both races, one in Lake Bluff and the other in Glencoe.
Cari is the one in the middle with exergy on her kit [yeah...term for ugly bike outfit]....they are all looking pretty darn serious.
I was cold at the race in Lake Bluff....it was late in the day and the sun had gone down. "How many laps left honey".....was pretty much what I said for about an hour.
But it was gorgeous on Saturday and Glencoe is my kind of town. The homes were beautiful. Walking the race course I was pointing out all the ones I could live in. My husband politely ignored me.
I saw some cute shops...that were closed. Lucky for David.
Nice little getaway.
Blaa...Blaa...Blaa...I know....design.
I saw this picture on Gretchen's blog. She did not like the way the hand rail on her stairs was just sitting there so she used paint to make it look a whole heck of a lot better...don't you agree? Loving the green and the Dash and Albert runner.
I saw this at ADAC in Atlanta the other day. This is vertical wallpaper that they hung horizontally instead.
You could do with paint right????
Got a giveaway coming up this week...more black and white.
It is storming here today.....Good excuse to stay home and get some things done right?
