I have made it to week 3 of the One Room Challenge. Sticking to a schedule is not one of my strengths.
Oh how I wish it was.
But here we are....and I am still in the game.
Last week I left you with the fabrics that are already in the room.
A quick review. The existing sofa is the brown, 4 chairs in the off white. Panels are done in the toile, along with 2 pillows in the blue fabric on the left. The small check was used in the kitchen [open floor plan] on the bar stools, so it is not really in the room.
The other day I started adding fabrics to see how they can change this room......although keep in mind our appointment is not until next Monday so nothing is set in stone!!!
In this one I added a geometric, a smaller fabric similar to the existing pillows and a brown.
Then I exchanged the geometric for an animal......I also added a darker velvet.
Then I took out the brown.....threw in a stripe to compliment the dark velvet. We have 4 chairs and a sofa to "pillow up".....
Here are the chairs. As I spoke about at Haven....this is the Charles of London arm that I believe to be a classic. You can see that the rug is a nice neutral.
There is a nice little seating alcove, where 2 of the pillows are.
OK...a few more changes in the fabrics....
Took out the animal...added back in the geometric and another pretty diamond linen fabric.
More....OK.
Let's get crazy now...Ralph Lauren animal....a dark linen and small tan linen next to it.
One more tweak....
I threw in the Ikat....just for grins.
You have a favorite?
6 different ways to go.....I will sit down and "drill hard"...before Monday to narrow it down to 3. Then throw in some art and accessories to help pull the plan together.
Take a look at the progress everyone else has made. Some people are using power tools....makes me feel kind of lame.
Does anyone out there color their hair......?I do. My Dad was gray by the time he was 40...so it runs in my family. Every now and then I will do a "root touch up" in between appointments to save some moola.
The other day I decided to throw a little on my eyebrows....I have seen them do that at salons before. I know what you are thinking...are you crazy? Why yes...yes I am.
You would think I have enough to worry about on my face other than a few gray hairs peaking out of the brows.
I mean those suckers are on your face....everyday where they are seen by everyone. Oh please.....how bad can it be?
Go into the computer room...wait the 10 minutes and then back to the bathroom to rinse out.....
WHOA MF......
One look in the mirror and I saw Groucho Marx looking back at me. What the ......
I could not get in the shower fast enough scrubbing my face and praying to Jesus......"please...I will never play with dye around my face again....swear".
I couldn't even wait until I finished washing my hair...jumped out of the shower dripping wet to see the damage.
I am happy to report that even though that little episode of reckless abandon scared the living shit out of me.....they did not look any different.
Oh but I learned a lesson. HAIR dye belongs on the head...not the face. I got it. Now my hair is even grayer because of the scare :)
Don't forget to come by the North building at Scott's in the back RH corner...near the food [I can't remember the booth number]. I will be there Friday hanging out with all of the beautiful pillows. I will tweet the booth number when I get there.
