We will be introducing three new
"Arts and Crafts Inspired" listellos to the stores next week. The Arts and Crafts Movement was from 1860-1900. It was a conscious revolt against man-made mass produced products that were being used to imitate handmade products- but exhibited poor quality. The movement was headed by William Morris (1834-1996) and displays both geometric and natural forms.
The movement:
*advocated a return to basic honest and simplicity in handmade furniture
*attracted a number of followers: they moved away from heavy, medieval influences
*produced wallpaper, textiles and furnishings
Our listellos are inspired by the handmade art pottery and ceramic tiles produced during this movment. The glazes feature a warm, buttery surface texture that is smooth to the touch. The colors are drawn from nature: mossy greens, deep forest greens, rich earthen browns, and blues and green from the ocean and sky.
The listellos are named for key designers from the Arts and Crafts Movement:
*The A & C Wright Listello #495052 (named after Frank Lloyd Wright, famous American architect and founder of the Prairie Style):
*The A & C Morris Listello #495053 (named after William Morris- the leader of the A & C Movement):
*The A & C Ruskin Listello #495054 (named after John Ruskin, a critical driver behin the A & C Movement):
These listellos can be mixed with stone, ceramic or glass tile to create that "Arts and Crafts" feeling in any room. Some design inspirations will follow in the next blog......
